When I was growing up, WC was a poorish town you got to via a dirt road at the bottom of Snake Hill. WC is a mix of old and new. It has one fancy part--that downtown area.
There is a Tiffany, See's Candy, Nordstrom, Victoria's Secret---but they're downtown, where rents are high. We're in an uninsulated building known as the Space Building, and it's one of two cheap rents in town--which is why we can afford it. Our old location was the other, but we outgrew it, and it was upstairs and awkward to get in and out of, anyway. We're next to Discount Muffler and Brakes, owned by Scott--a single dad who's had it for 20 years, and quite the BMX racer--he and his son--they both have dozens of trophys. Scott and son took up cyclo-cross two years ago, and do well in local races. We have six bays, each 24ft x 40ft. Our rent is 0.95/sq foot per month. One bay is shipping, one is combo office and assembly (room 19, the one in our address). One is showroom, one is storage, one is more storage and assembly and receiving, and one is storage that we don't need except when a bike shipment comes in. It also has some gym equipment--two LeMond exercycles, a Water Rower, a Nordic Track that doesn't work, and some 35lb hand barbells, or whatever you call them. We have a pull-up bar in the showroom, but don't use it with customers around. Scott is making us a bar-dip station cheap and strong. It is unimpressive but affordable. My goal is to expand the showroom and condense the storage, and move the shipping so it's next to receiving, which only makes sense. Eric, I must have just missed you. Thanks for coming by, though! And thanks for putting the pics up there. Grant--
