Sometimes you can find nail polish that will match or come very close.
Clear polish will help prevent rust if you can’t find a color match.

FWIW, I was checking the Gunnar/Waterford site to see if they had my paint
color (I ordered a bottle when I first heard they were shutting down, but
it broke during a move) and noticed they added some Riv colors:
Rivendell Atlantis Green
Rivendell Cream
Rivendell Head Tube Ivory
Rivendell Homer
Just a PSA expressing my appreciation for the folks @ Waterford.
I discovered that they can supply touch-up paint for my Roadeo (cream with
blue highlights) and I ordered touch-up paint in each color:
- Roadeo White
- Hot Blue

Thanks Richard and
I’ve always brought my bike into a store that sells testers model paint and
held up the bottles till I found something close.
I glue a tiny piece of fine sandpaper to the eraser end of a pencil to feather
the edges of the scratch and prep the area.

I had one and tried to match with a powder blue auto color, not very
successfully (too light). You might have better luck mixing standard blue and
white model paints..just keep adding white to blue until it looks about right.
Just realize it'll never be perfect!

Anyone know of a good approach to obtaining and applying touch-up paint for
the old blue Joe Appaloosas? Pic included for color illustration.
I had a small paint crack I had to file down on my seat lug and I'd like to
fix it up.
When I was at RBW picking up my blue Appaloosa, I saw this nail polish on a
table and wrote it down:
Sally Hansen, Hard As Nails, 325 Big Teal
It looked a shade too dark for my bike, but very close to the blue Clem sitting
nearby.

Has anyone been able to find a good match for the Clem blue. My new to me Clem
L arrived with a couple chips from shipping.

I bought an orange Testors stick for an XO-1 which was slightly darker than I
needed (matching that color is legendarily difficult)..I expect it would be
very close to a Cheviot. I only used a small amount once, so I'll see if I
still have it when I get home Friday.

Hi all,
Can any recommend nail polish or Testors model paint for touching up
an orange Cheviot? Thanks in advance for any responses.

Johanna at Waterford tried to find a match for my Sage Green Hillborne
(Taiwan-built), but they had not used that color on any of their bikes. I'm
not sure if any of the blue Sams were built at Waterford. Might be worth a
shot checking to see if Waterford has the Sam blue. The folks at
What about the blue? Anyone know where not-a-Waterford-Hillborne touch-up paint
in blue could be had?

Yep. I just ordered a bottle of white from them for my Roadeo. Takes them a
few days to mix it up and it was $20 plus $10 shipping.

You can buy the color (Sam Hillborne Orange) from Waterford directly and it's
about $30 shipped.

I just got a new-used Sam Hilborn in orange. Does anybody have a good
source for touch up paint/nail polish that is a pretty good match.

I need to touch up some chips on a blue Ram and when I called Riv they sent
me to the Cyclofiend site to find this suggestion:
*Touch up paint recommendation to mimic the blue Rambouillet is not quite
as straightforward - according to Jock D., start with Gloss Dark Blue

I found an inexpensive blue nail polish that works pretty well on my blue
Ram -- I'll try to dig up the bottle and give the brand and model.
It worked far less well on my blue 2006 PT Cruiser.

I've picked up a couple of deep gouges in the paint of my Toyo Hilsen - the
joys of bike racks - which go down to metal and need attention. I'd be
extremely grateful if anyone has any suggestions as to a decent match in
the Testor's world, or something else that's worked for you.

I'm looking for touch up paint for a Joe Bell paint light metallic blue Riv

classic color, this would be it. Any suggestions? Thanks, Larry

Anyone have an idea about how close this might be to the orange Rambouillet
color?
