What a nice summer, Patrick, except the ribs thing. Those are a pesky lot.
They can be quite discrete as they heal only to really give you a startle
when you rub them the wrong way. Hope better already.

I guess it's not quite true that I've never noticed the drag - I DO notice
the difference in efficiency on my Brompton between the original wheel and
the SON-equipped wheel. It's minor, but it's there.

Rich just sold 4 Silver hubs with the steel freehub body on a first come

Apparently there was quite a few of us taller riders watching it. Never

I have a SON28 on my Roadeo. It's great, especially now that the days are
getting shorter again.
All my other bikes have a SP dynamos. Also, great. SON's look nicer, but I
actually like the connector for the SP better.

Are you sure that the original bottom bracket would cause the chainrings to hit
the chainstay? If so they yes, you may need to go wider.
Here’s what I would do:
Install the crank on your XO-2. Measure the chain line in the front, following
Sheldon’s directions. Let’s see what that number is.
Virtually ALL the bikes I ride regular have Dynamo hubs. 5 SPs, half dozen
Shimanos & an older SON.
Put it on, set it & forget it!

I want to run an IQX on a Schmidt hub.
My Roadeo is way faster than my Rambouillet, and I enjoy the ease of pedaling
it along so I don’t want to slow it down if hubs draggy.
Sounds like ok.
I do have a Schmidt on my 650Ram but forgot if I could feel any drag when I put
it on.

IMHO, I'd try shifters on the stem. Handy and out of the way. Makes
swapping bars and stem easy. I have Billie bars on my MIT Atlantis with
Silver shifters + IRD stem mount. It's really personal preference.

Yes, the XO uses a 47.5mm chain line. Rear wheel is a Shimano 300LX hub,
with a Shimano 7sp cassette. (The front hub still has the sticker on it,
and that says Exage HB-RM50).
Do you think I should add washers to the axle to get closer to 135mm?

My mate and I went up Mt Diablo for a Sunday night campout. Loaded up
Frosty the step-through and my bud hauled my make shift trailer with his
gear on his roadie. Climbing over 2k feet with such a load wasn't easy. Sun
was on us too for a majority of the time.
It was all worth it though once
If you add spacers underneath the locknuts you should be ok.

I should add, I don't need to trade 3 for 3. If you have just one or two

I have 2 sets of dyno wheels, One Son28 and one SonDelux both built by
Rich. I don't really notice the drag at all. The Son28 is running a
Busch & Muller IQ-X, the Deluxe a Schmidt Edelux ll. The Schmidt light
causes less drag, the IQ-X has a brighter beam but seems more focused in
the center

My Appaloosa has those fork crown bolts. Good to get a confirmation that
this's doable.
It will also nicely complement a black Wald's basket I have.
Perhaps for models with no crown bolts this is not a good option, as lambbo
suggested.
