Axles have spacers, and cassettes have spacers. You need to explain more
precisely what is happening tho. Maybe a picture will help. Your description

I remember seeing a schlumpf drive at my old shop. Kinda cool but too weird
for me. I currently have my cross check setup as a 2 x 9 with no front der. I
didn't have the correct shim so I left the der off and I may just leave it that
way. Bif ring for commuting, then nudge the chain over
I was uncomfortable on upright bars until I traded up to a bigger frame. I'm
not sure about all the mechanics of it but I kept trying to get my bars more up
and closer to be more comfortable but getting the right balance is the
important thing. Being balanced between saddle and bars.

Yes I do indeed mean the d rings on the adjustment bolts. I think deadening
them may be tge simplest solution. Perhaps a wrap of bar tape or something
similar will do the trick.

I have a pair of silver shifters set up as thumbies on a set of sunrace
mounts with the 'Roman Mod' done. They are very nice and I like them but
the little metal rings on the adjuster nuts rattle and drive me a little
nuts.
Any tips on how to quiet them down?

I have a small revelate tangle bag. I use it just for small stuff but it
is a small bag. Perfect for a few beers or a jacket or whatever. I think
a big part of bikepacking, as I understand it, is that you don't bring as
much stuff. More like lightweight backpacking.

I dont know your level of experience with bicycles. Many people experiment
with tire pressure and there are so many variables, as you pointed out, that it
is a highly specific question.

I like upright bars. I have surly open bars on my bike because they are
wider. I found I had a hard time being comfortable until I got a longer
frame and a longer stem. Comfort on a bike is a balance between your butt
and your hands. You are putting too much pressure on your hands and they
I'm going to say that if that were my bike and "something bad happened" to me I
would NOT want a stranger to cut my lock and put it in their garage and try to
look for me.
Even if "something bad" happens to me I will know where I left my bike and will
return for it or send someone for it.
I wonder what this would be in a legal sense? Would this legally be considered
theft? I don't know. I assume it would be, regardless of intent.

All it takes is a second to look at a rim to see if there is damage. What good

Why do people like to find reasons why rim brakes are better than disc brwkes?
Those tires look super tough on there. I've only ever had rock n roads on my
bmc. Imo perfect bike for east bay hills.

The idea of riding through the night and napping in random places makes the
idea completely unappealing to me. Wouldnt mind a hotel room if I could get a
decent amount of hours in. Perhaps I will work my way up to the 200k. I could

5'10" and rarely inadvertently wheelie. But it is important on the trails I
normally ride (east bay hills) to be able to raise the front wheel from time to
time over obstacles, especially while climbing. Just a little
I too am curious about these seemingly super long stays. Can you ever pop even
a small wheelie?? All fpr comfort and stability but that looks like an awfully
long bike?

I ride surly open bars which are 666mm wide. Love them. They don't sweep back
as far though.
Those bars look nice though I would be concerned with far they sweep back. I
would need a long or a long too tube. Which cpuld be perfect for some riv
models. Seems like top tubes are getting
Shimano hubs are normally pretty quiet.
