I'm with MBB on this. Anne, enjoy every mile, every minute, and savor every

Actually I predict Anne will shatter all records (for most joy-filled tour of
The Divide)...THAT'S what it's all about. Shame the others have to ride it
heads-down in an awful hurry... Ride beautifully, Anne. Savor the journey.

That very downhill was the reason I bought the Krampus. I wanted more
rubber on those bumpy downhills. I'm way happier descending stuff like
that with lovely 3" tires.

The current records for the Tour Divide:

Men’s Jay Petervary 2012 – 15:16:04

Women’s Eszter Horanyi 2012 – 19:03:35

Both of them look to fall this year. Five men are ahead of Petervary's
2012 pace, including Jay Petervary. Lael Wilcox is flying on the
women's side, also ahead of Horanyi's record pace.

Anne,
Enjoy the ride! Those pics of the Divide that I've seen are tremendous...
I'm looking forward to experiencing it myself one day. Until then, I'll
ride along with you-- slow or fast or whatever.

Just scrapes and bruises. That kind of lesson-- that I needed to go
faster on the steep loose downhill-- is difficult to learn, because
one's reason cannot instruct one's emotions. Even if I KNOW it's safer
to go faster, I still have trouble making myself go faster.

Fantastic!

Yes, timidity and wisdom are sometimes mutually exclusive. Sounds like you
didn't pay too high a price for that lesson?

With abandon,
