That makes sense. I have the IQ Cyo R, with the same cutoff, its really
nice but not so wide to disturb the pot smoking teenagers on
the benches beside the bike path. Ok, small exaggeration, some of them are
having sex, which I really don't want to see, although maybe for societies
sake someone should shine a light on them, haha.

No, what causes problems with lights is the light shining in the eyes, not
the width. The Luxos has a cutoff, which keeps the level of the light
below the eyes of the pedestrians and drivers, so it doesn't blind them...

[RBW] Re: Bike stereo

2013-02-12 Thread Minh
I saw peter whites's post showing how bright the luxos b is and it's really
impressive. PeterM they make a version without the USB charging and it's
equally bright. but something i've been waiting to see feedback on, the luxos
b has a small battery that actually charges the USB device and it looks like
this battery does not charge when the light is on so there are some limitations
still with this particular setup. it's cool to have that backup to re-charge
in the day but i actually leave my lights on all the time, even in the day time
so i could see how this would be limiting for me.

2013-02-12 Thread PATRICK MOORE
I just looked at the beam comparisons from PJW's page -- man, what a good
light! It really is amazing how good LED lights have gotten in the last few
years: when I got my first dyno light about 7 or 8 years ago they weren't
nearly as good. Today, even the lowly IQ Fly original is pretty damn' good.

Too bad it's priced at German premium levels. I hope that competition
quickly brings similar features down to more earth-level prices. Man, if
the SP hub is as good as it claims to be: that and a discount Luxos: what a
package!
