The ride is organized by mountain biking single speeders but I don't know if my legs are up to riding the Quickbeam for that many miles so I might take something geary. Mountain bike group rides get posted on the MMBA.org forum so that's worth checking when you're feelin' dirty. League of Michigan Bicyclists calendar also fits the bill, I'd think: http://www.lmb.org/index.php/component/option,com_eventlist/Itemid,22/view,eventlist Steve -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group. Ryan, Crank set - White Industries Mountain VBC, 52/38 (black) Chainrings 180mm (silver) crank arms Seat - Brooks B-67 Sprung Saddle in Black w/Silver springs Baggage - I've got a full set of the Slackerville luggage - I'm not sure how it'll look yet. We'll see when I get the bike back. I also think the 68 will be perfect for what I want. I definitely am excited to take it off-roading, but imagine that it'll be a serious touring bike :) Amit On Mar 31, 12:12 am, Abcyclehank wrote: > Amit, > > Great looking build going curious about the crank set you are going to > run. > My first build is going to be a 8 speed campy mountain build. > I should have pictures also this weekend just waiting on several parts > over here too. > > Two questions. What are you doing for a seat? > > I am going with a Brooks B17 Special Maroon Saddle, > > Do you have and ideal what kind of racks/baggage you are using with > this great > color combo? > > I need to get rid of things I collected for my Protovelo build and am > not sure which way > I am leaning at this point. > > Really curious to see your thoughts about the size of your 68cm > frame. > I think the 64cm will be perfect for the type of riding I plan to do > with this bike. > > Bomba-Love from the West side. > Ryan > > On Mar 30, 11:20 pm, Amit Singh wrote: > > > > > Gentlemen, > > > Once again - thanks for all the laughs :) > > > The bicycle is still missing parts ... a seat post, cassette, and > > tubes - pretty integral to making it work. Okay. So the bike was outfitted with a 125mm Phil Bottom Bracket. After some adjustment / centering, the crank arms JUST made it past the seat stays, by less than a millimeter. Frame flex, especially in turns would cause the arms to hit the stays. That's a no-bueno. So, 130mm bottom bracket ordered today. I just installed the cassette onto the rear wheel, unboxed the tubes and seated the new tires. Fat Franks are a little heavy but so nice! Amit, Great looking build going curious about the crank set you are going to run. My first build is going to be a 8 speed campy mountain build. I should have pictures also this weekend just waiting on several parts over here too. Two questions. What are you doing for a seat? I am going with a Brooks B17 Special Maroon Saddle, Do you have and ideal what kind of racks/baggage you are using with this great color combo? I need to get rid of things I collected for my Protovelo build and am not sure which way I am leaning at this point. Really curious to see your thoughts about the size of your 68cm frame. I think the 64cm will be perfect for the type of riding I plan to do with this bike. Bomba-Love from the West side. Gentlemen, Once again - thanks for all the laughs :) The bicycle is still missing parts ... a seat post, cassette, and tubes - pretty integral to making it work. The Bottom Bracket still needs a little adjustment so the left-side crank-arm can make it around without hitting the chain stay. Amit does your have a undertube or the diagtube. If under we will have twin frames (64cm) on opposite sides of Michigan. My Bombadil is also a beautiful grey with maroon and cream accents. Re: [RBW] Re: Bomba-Love 2011 :)
Hi Gernot, You are correct regarding the weight. It's for bike + rider + full equipment load. Have you tried and then rejected the recommended pressures or is it that you've just always inflated to these different pressures? Rene, thanks for that. Very cool. Something worth mentioning is that the total weight should (I assume) include the bike as well, in case that isn't clear from the "rider and all gear" description. Using this calculator with 40mm tires I indeed end up with numbers (34/43 psi fr/rear) about 10 psi higher than what I run off-road (for more traction), and about 5 psi higher than what I use on-road (30/35 psi fr/rear). However, the values it gives me for 33mm tires (Jack Brown Greens) are much higher than what I run: 48/61 psi versus the 35/40 to 40/45 psi I usually use. [RBW] Re: Bomba-Love 2011 :)
I use Jan Heine's article as a guide, but usually end up running a little less pressure than recommended. Keep letting air out until the cornering gets scary, then just put enough back in to make the cornering solid. :) Gernot On Mar 23, 11:09 pm, Amit Singh wrote: > My new Bombadil is set to arrive on March 28 ... just in time for the > Michigan Spring Thaw :) > > It's going to be a beauty, grey, maroon and cream with cream-lug > outlining, parts mostly USA sourced with White Industries / Paul. > > I'm wicked excited, but one of the challenges I'm hoping to resolve > before it arrives is finding the optimal pressure / weight for the > cream-colored Schwalbe Fat Franks i'll be riding. > > If anyone has a formula or algorithm source, I'd appreciate the > guidance for tire pressure calculation.
