[RBW] Re: Cowboy shirts

2010-07-29 Thread EricP
Update - got my shirt yesterday. Washed it last night and wore to
work today. At 6' and 220, the XL fits. In a perfect world would
like the shirt tails and sleeves about 1/2 inch longer. That's my
preference. It looks fine. And probably better when the shirt is
untucked over MUSA shorts.

Also, the color shown on the website isn't necessarily that accurate.
The shot of the label is the best at showing the red. Otherwise, it
veers a bit to the pink for my taste. In person, it definitely seems
red. With a nice strong blue stripe.

So, yeah, the shirt is nice.

I'd like to buy one of these shirts from Rivendell, but red is one of
my least favorite colors for clothing. If they sell them again, I hope
they choose brown, green or blue. And shadow plaid!

Anne: I think it will work as a shirt for someone as big as your son.

I am just under 6' and relatively (by north american standards anyway)
light weight. I have a large which as I say above I use as a light
jacket. I can easily wear it over a regular size shirt. The sleeves
are long on me. In cold weather I pull them over my hands when I ride
as a wind block. Otherwise I have to roll the sleeves.

I have one of the RR shirts. I got it a size too large and wear it as
a light weight jacket. The Riv blurb saying the material gets softer
with washing is right on point. Very comfortable. Never owned a
jersey. Glad I own the RR shirt.

Had mentioned to Grant earlier that a good friend of mine used to be a

To comment on Anne's comment - yeah, the railroad shirts are nice.
Really, really nice. Have two. Too heavy of material for Minnesota

[RBW] Re: Cowboy shirts

2010-07-22 Thread manueljohnacosta
I'm for one to never wear things from places if I don't have any type
of affixation with that certain product or place. For example, I never
went to Stanford and wouldn't wear a shirt from there, not because I
don't like Stanford but because I have no connection to Stanford. And
as much as Grant says that I look like a cowboy, I am not one and at
first I was against wearing one. But after some poking Grant put me in
a shirt and I thought it looked pretty good. Not as all cowboyishly as
I expected it. If it was a different color I could buy one to wear to
school and maybe buy a size smaller. I thought I recoqinzed you at the
shop today Anne! We should have had lunch at Tullios across the
street.

[RBW] Re: Cowboy shirts

2010-07-22 Thread jinxed
Not to "enable", but I have been to the Rockmount store many times,
and have owned probably 5 or 6 very similar shirts over the years.
They really are nice. Bit o' the billy myself.

I was honestly shocked to see them on Rivendell. Not because they
don't "fit" in, just because they are local to me. I had to take a
second to realize that Riv was indeed talking about the same Denver
based company. They do have a gazillion shirts in all sorts of super
westerny flair, but the more normal ones are great. I think all the
ones I've had were cotton only, but super sturdy and very well put
together.

The only one I have left hangs at my parents cabin near the divide. I
will actually be wearing it tomorrow night manning the fire pit.

Might need to pick me up a new one!
