Yes, Ken...I hope you have many happy miles on QB 2.0...I recall you had a
very traumatic accident a few years ago that took a lot of recovery time
and I hope you (and all of us riders) never duplicate that experience.

Happy trails all...Ryan

2025-07-02 Thread Ken Yokanovich
Looks like I will *once-again* be a Quickbeam owner. Mike is traveling
until the 5th, so we have agreed to meet on the 6th for pickup. Since I am
not the original post author and haven't officially taken possession, I
don't feel like I can say "Sold!" But, I do have the cash in hand, and am
looking forward to seeing Mike on Sunday. He lives only a few miles from me
and I have run into him a few times while we have been riding on our
respective commutes to work.

I lost my much-loved orange Quickbeam in 2008 when I was hit by an oncoming
car. In the years since, I have tried without luck to talk my brother into
selling me one of his. I have been tempted to pick up a Quickbeam
replacement a few times. I will be excited to see how the second round of
ownership experience stacks up against the memories.

[RBW] Re: FS: 60cm Quickbeam Frameset, Fenders, Wheels, Tires, Bars

2025-06-29 Thread Philip Williamson
Judging by recent post-Covid Quickbeam prices, this is a good deal, and of
interest to a wide group of bike folk. An acquaintance recently bought a
$950 orange frameset and when I said I thought that was a little high, he
had zero concerns about selling it on if he needed to.

I was pushing my 60cm green QB through the Calling In Sick swap in SF and
two sellers in a row asked me how much I’d sell it for. $2800 was my “not
for sale” price, but if one of them had called my bluff I wouldn’t have
sold it.

I see your Rad Bazaar ad, too. GLWTS!

 Hey group,

Lost a bet with myself and so last in is first out.

I purchased this bike semi-complete from the original owner earlier
this year and while I've had fun getting it set up and cruising it around
Santa Cruz it just isn't something I can justify having at the moment.

I'll be going back to N=1, which is where I find myself happiest these
days, so the Susie is undergoing a makeover and the QB needs to find a new
 home.

60cm Quickbeam, first batch from 03-04?
 Tange headset
 Nitto stem
 Map Ahearne bars
 Ergon GC1 Biocork grips
 Ritchey/Dia-Compe brake levers
 Shimano cantilevers
 Paul Moon Units
 Original seatpost
Shimano Deore XT M730 175mm crankset
 Sugino 38t/Salsa 36t rings
 Original wheelset (Suzue free/free>Araya rims)
 White Industries Dos 17/19t freewheel
Rene Herse Snoqualmie Pass Extralight tires 700x44

Saddle and pedals not included, Nitto Noodles (42cm?) available

Asking $1400 located in Santa Cruz, CA

Can deliver around SF Bay Area for fuel cost, would rather not ship as
of now but willing to consider

Thanks for looking and Happy Holidays :)

I love the way the QB handles with big tires. They change the gearing and
slow down acceleration compared to a 28mm tire, but it's a fantastic bike
offroad, on gravel and just around town with fatties.

My 60cm with a 36mm Kenda Kwick on the back and a 41mm Schwalbe Marathon on
the front measures 85.4 standover at the center of the tube.
Fender note: the 41mm tire buzzes under a 52mm V-O Zeppelin fender. 38s fit
fine.

I've had Big Apple 50s on my QB, and now I run Marathon Supreme 40s. Both
handle fine. I switched because the BA's, albeit incredibly comfortable,
were slower than I wanted. The MS 40s are a great fit for the QB and quick
enough for my purposes.
