Whenever I post in Haiku, I'm always just playing around. Probably
more than one of you wants to write to me:

Hey Forum Hogger!
With your thirty daily posts,
Don't be such a tool

I'm just playing. I like haiku threads.

Haiku is wonderful, I'm just no good at it. Generally one prefers the
contemporary Rivendell Ballads, the lilting odes to Steel Steeds and
their riders, Those Lonesome Cowboys of the Pavement and Fire Road.

Susy Boguss' remake of that classic Lament of the Roadeo Rider's
Significant Other -- a remix of an old Judy Collins tune - - is at
the top of the list.

Five beats in the first
The second line is seven
And then five again

I much prefer the sonnet's lovely form;
Elegant, and spare, without unlovely haste.
The trouble is, you have to make it rhyme
And that's not easy without a lot of waste
...Ed toil and endless spending of your time.

So I will from this foolish effort quit;
Sit back and see what y'all do make of it.

A billion stars go spinning through the night
Blazing high above your head;
But in you is the Presence that will be
When all the stars are dead.
