$70 for a pair of nylon shorts! I know they are great and own several pair of
the previous gen but I'm experiencing a bit of sticker shock. I'd love to see a
cost break down of materials, labor, design, shipping, etc.

I know they are worth the money- please don't think I'm saying otherwise. And I
am sure they are priced fairly. It just amazes me that the cost difference
between MUSA and non-MUSA is so large.

Cheers!

My Yokozunas are spiral striped gray/black. Match that!

As for hoaxes: not quite hoaxes, unfortunately, but shurashell better than
satire: Trump as president (he *did* keep Hilary "it's my turn now" out of
the chair), and driverless cars. What happened to buses and streetcars? My
paternal grandparents were relatively well to do in the middle of the
Depression (he was CFO of Nehi), but owned 1 used car; my grandmother would
take the streetcar downtown to shop. On the other side, my mother's family,
rural squires -- landowners and judges and politicos -- never owned a car
until, after the Americans made grandpa provincial governor after WW 2
(family hid in jungle for 4 years to avoid his being made head of the
Japanese puppet govt) and gave him a used jeep. They -- family, servants --
walked or took the bus.

The ancients and the medievals knew that the world was round, btw. I
studied Ptolemy.

Re: [RBW] Re: MUSA pre-order

2017-02-17 Thread Tim Butterfield
My preference is for the same colors in tan/tan, grey/grey, blue/blue, or
even black/black. But, I caved and ordered two pair of these grey/blue
because I have no other MUSA shorts and there is risk a consistent and/or
preferred color may not be available in the future. Besides, the grey/blue
might go better with my AHH than a butterscotch/olive combination. I would
not have ordered those.

[RBW] Re: MUSA pre-order

2017-02-17 Thread Garth

I am going to retake my take on the color thing, since "normal" means
something different to everyone. I wear my preferred style of pants rolled
up below the knee all the time year around. I just happen to ride a bike
sometimes too. Since I find 99% of pants, knickers and shorts to be unfit
to wear based on my own sense of freedom of movement, the only "normal" I
know is what I wear, so who am I to say what anyone else's "normal" may be
? Just wear whatever you want .

The color thing I too always found to be completely contrary to the whole
of idea of wearing "normal" clothes, since of course I have never seen what
anyone would consider everyday clothing with such contrasting crotch
gussets and other patches.

Same with the huge velcro and reflective bands on the knickers.

Q - Is the belt on these fully elastic or is it static ?

2017-02-17 Thread Edwin W
I'll bet they've never heard this contrastive crotch color conundrum before.
Someone on the design team thought it was a good idea and it went forward. With
this feedback I bet the next batch won't have that!

And let's hope there is a next batch.

The only "problem" with the MUSA shorts I have (dark blue early style with same
color crotch and grey newer style with blue crotch) is that they last so long.
How can a business hope to sell new stuff when each piece lasts so long?

mesh pockets for shorts, they invariably rip or tear and wear out long
