[RBW] Re: New Bike Day: Mother-in-Law

2016-01-24 Thread Julian
Your family sounds pretty great -- awesome kids, MIL, DH , and you -- the
whole package -- yay for you all!

It's great she's got a shop with an appreciative and supportive staff --
here that's not so likely in 2/3 of our shops. When you go home perhaps
you can stop in with a beverage (is that guy 21?) for the mechanic and
gently show him how fenders and the Iris cage are supposed to be mounted!

Re: [RBW] Re: New Bike Day: Mother-in-Law

2016-01-23 Thread Leah Peterson
Haha! Yes, it's my MIL's bike. We're a rare pair in that we actually love each
other and work in our mutual best interests. I hit gold when I got my in-laws
as family. My late father-in-law was even more wonderful, and that's saying
something.

My MIL wanted a bike like ours after all the excitement 'round here. But she
fell in love with Riv all by herself after calling and chatting with Miesha.
Sealed the deal. My MIL is "Minnesota nice" and Miesha is cut from the same
cloth. She decided to buy everything but the kitchen sink after that. She
called me with her credit card and told me to "get everything you can get for
my bike." Yikes. Then she called Miesha and ordered a load of hats, bandanas,
clothing and other gear. I cringe to think of the bill.

The mechanic said over and over how solidly made and deluxe her bike was, which
thrilled her to no end. She took the photos and insisted on one with the
mechanic, but there isn't one of her! I'm bringing our Rivs home this summer
and we'll ride ours and hers together all over the Paul Bunyan State Trail. A
family reunion, indeed.

Looks like just the right amount of accoutrements. As to the bottle cage,
I looked at it & wondered "what's wrong?". Chuckle, after reading the
other replys. And this is your MIL? I've heard of MILs nudging at a

Always nice when a little more beauty enters the world! Give your
mother-in law our congratulations on her good taste. As for the the
cage christen it with champaign and it will look just fine.

2016-01-23 Thread Kevin Lindsey
Jeez. I thought I was the only one who installed that bottle cage upside
down. For what it's worth, it works upside down; you just have to kind of
wrestle the bottle in and out a bit. Works a whole lot better, however,
when it's properly installed.

Swet! Hilarious on the bottle cage. That's why I teach my kids to
always try it to make sure it works. Clearly the poor lad didn't put a
bottle in that cage. Sardonic grin. Will his Mom's purchace help or hinder
hubbie's love of his bike? Even bigger sardonic grin.

With abandon,
