Now the cat's out of the bag! Hordes of California Rivendell riders are
salivating at the prospect of riding in Alpine meadows, green trees,
wildflowers, etc.. Posting pictures was a wonderful PSA for your area. Is
it too early to start planning 2016 expeditions?

DS, I started at 7,800 feet, peaked at about 9,500 then met Patrick at
9,200ish, and the reservoir is roughly 9,000 feet. It's got some gentle
rollers, then a steep climb away from the reservoir to more rollers on a
forest service road. This ride link shows the route we did, though we
turning off their defined route onto a FS road at 6.5ish miles (the high
point in the middle of the elevation profile). From there we followed the
ridge, climbing to 307 N. of the reservoir and took that back to the
parking area (well, I turned off a bit early since I was riding home).

That's all I can think about when I see/hear pictures of Deacon Patrick's
rides: my own white knuckles gripping the handlebars on the those
unbelievably steep descents with large drop offs. The butterflies are a
turnin'.

What was the elevation (low and high)?

Looks like an awesome time nonetheless.

What a great event! You can no longer be the poles of conversational
spectrum since you've met and been on a ride! Reassurance that good living
will result in proof of outcome.

My trips up to Rampart were always afoot from the east (parking lot by the
USAFA infirmary) up that slew of a valley on that narrow trail with the
long fall on the left.

The mention of a meeting of the Patricks conjured this in the past:

Glad the Rampart trail was in a toga for your ride!
