[RBW] Re: Skewered?
Yep, and the first thing many folks do is "upgrade," to new fancy skewers so most bike shops have a stash of good reliable Shimano models. Twine and feathers-nyuck nyuck! I know you already solved your problem, but FYI, Shimano also has some nicely polished basic skewers. I think they're called "steel skewers" or something generic like that. They are about $12-15 each. The standard length for a 135 mm rear is 168 mm. Alternately, twine and feathers really dress up those unsightly black skewers, and for cheap! [RBW] Re: Skewered?
Awesome, glad to help! I totally agree with you on liking the silver ones. They're hard to find, and those XT ones really can't be beat IMHO. [RBW] Re: Skewered?
The VO site states that the skewers will fit 130-135mm. I am reasonably sure they will meet your needs. I modified a 130mm Shimano rear hub to 135mm and was able to use the original skewer with no problem. My skewers are silver but the adjustable end cap is black. Matches my saddle, cables, rear rack, brake hoods, and tire tread. Yay black. [RBW] Re: Skewered?
Hub axle clearance is measured from the inside dimension of the dropouts. Cam faces clamp onto the outside of the dropouts, so are naturally wider. 30 extra mm seems a bit much, but one must allow for them to open and clear the dropouts. - Original Message - From: Kelt To: RBW Owners Bunch Sent: Wednesday, October 28, 2009 4:53 PM Subject: [RBW] Re: Skewered? They are great, but they were the reason I opened the size question.. I measured from the face of the cam to the end of the threads on the skewer that fits and read off 165mm (more or less). Is that correct for a 135 mm rear wheel spacing? I really have not had any experience with skewers or rear wheel spacing before. Thanks. I just got a pair of the Velo-Orange skewers, and they look pretty nice and see to be well made. On Oct 28, 3:21 pm, Kelt wrote: > I love my Bleriot, but have a minor fly in my ointment. Thanks.
