I have a Nitto Moustache bar I can throw in the pile, if that's what Manny wants. That bar can come with an ITM Eclypse stem if any fits (I assembled a small collection while finalizing on length); this is really stiff chromed steel stem although the quill is the standard non- Nitto Technomic (short) length. I'll also offer to build wheels if components are available. Probably not Rich quality, but I've built most of my wheels and a set of Campagnolo/Aerohead wheels is surviving a 200+ pounder friend without issue. Oh man, I just saw this thread. Terrible. I think Manny's Bleriot, in the many ride and camping threads in which it starred, gave me more vicarious enjoyment than any other bike. Manny, I almost feel like I know you because your posts are always so conversational and full of pictures. Most of my posts are dorky gear related Qs and comments so you likely don't feel the same towards me. That's beside the point though. I feel for your loss. A doggone shame. Let's hope that you recover the bike and karma takes care of the scoundrel low-life thief. Andy On Dec 13, 12:11 am, René Sterental wrote: > Good luck Manny! Manny, that's such a bummer about your bike. You got a great attitude though which will clearly help you move on. If the bike doesn't find it's way back to you I hope you're able to get back on the road soon. And yeah, while it's a bummer it was stolen, like you say, you definitely got your money's worth out of it. Keep us posted. --mike -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group. To post to this group, send email to [email protected]. [RBW] Re: Stolen Bleriot.
I write because this is all I can do. For those that were wondering I locked the bike to itself with a kryptonite lock. While I may have lost a really great bike. I haven't lost the memories that I've had with it. I feel more guilty then mad or sad considering that way I got the bike in the first place. For those that don't know this bike was bought from a forum member founded on craigslist. The story can be found on Jim's website: http://www.cyclofiend.com/cc/2009/cc745-manuelacosta1209.html Granted this bike went through a lot. I'm still not giving up on finding it, but I guess thats what happens to bikes. No matter how meaningful they are or how many great memories you have with your bike all in all it's just a tool. A thing that helps you get from point a to point b. Don't get me wrong. I loved my bleriot and believe me it was well loved. But I can't be caught up being sad. Bikes get stolen. No matter how many wonderful memories and great stories I've had with the bike. I just have to move on. Hopefully I can find it. If not, it's not a total lost. I got some good mileage out of the bike. Tons of pictures. I'm more upset that I'm not going to be riding as much. If you see it please let me know. Would love to get this bike back. I'm fairly confident that I might just get the bike back. Not plenty of 49 cm 650b teal Bleriots in the Bay Area. I'm pretty sure it will show up. I've gain a good amount of bike karma for this bike to come back. On Dec 12, 6:46 pm, Manuel Acosta wrote: > At around 6:15 on my commute back from work in San Jose. That's downright evil... that low-life slime... I wish awful things upon the bastard... and hopefully the bike will remain unscathed... Sorry for your loss, Manny. sorry to hear of your loss. i mostly don't commute and mostly don't leave or lock my good bikes anywhere. i am curious as to what you mean you locked the bike to itself. what kind of lock and did you not lock it to some sort of solid steely thing? -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group.
