[RBW] Thoughts on Devold boxer briefs?

2017-09-14 Thread RichS
I'm a fan of the Devolds and have several pairs.
I tend to use them for travel since you can get away with fewer pairs. Hand
wash or in a
machine (if available) using Kookaburra wool wash. Helps that they dry quickly.

The fabric is thin and as others have noted they are a bit higher maintenance
but I feel it's worth the effort. Try a pair and see what you think.

And like Joe says, do size up which I believe Riv
recommends in their product description.

Regards,
Richard

[RBW] Thoughts on Devold boxer briefs?

2017-09-14 Thread Joe Bernard
I like them very much with MUSA shorts. I size up for a loose fit, which I
think is the trick for these: I don't think a skin-tight 'lycra shorts' fit
would be comfortable.

I wash them in a regular laundry load, but air dry.

Hi Mark,

I agree with much you have said about wearing wool. There is the
additional care that must be taken if you are in a area were insects like
to eat them as well. You may find a clothing drawing with insects eating
at your wool undies. I have tried wool undies before and never had a
problem with them except I think mine had a polyester or nylon blend to
them which help to keep shape and hold wear longer.

[RBW] Thoughts on Devold boxer briefs?

2017-09-14 Thread William R.
The Devolder wool boxer briefs that Riv sells are my favorites to wear under
Musa shorts, pants, knickers, Compass knickers and some "big s" casual shorts
that I got this spring. The boxers just disappear for me under those yet they
provide the non-chafing support that I need. They wick away moisture like no
others, hang dry quickly after use and stay clean for a week of use between
washing alternating two pairs.

Two pairs alternated daily last me a year before they wear thin and holes
develop in areas. So I generally buy two new pairs from Riv every spring.

This spring when I went to the Riv site to replace them they were out of my
size. I waited for restock, but time was going by and I needed them. Looking
for the exact style that Riv carries elsewhere was frustrating.

So I ended up getting the two pairs of wool boxer briefs that I have been using
this year from an unlikely source for me. I will just call them "big
(overpriced) r". These wool briefs were priced more in line with my price point
than their other offerings. And they have served me well. Comparable to the
Devolders. Not made in Norway, but Vietnam, and they may be longer lasting.
Only half way through my year of use, so only time will tell on that last
point. So far so good though.

They chafed my fat belly, and even though I hardly used them, they
disintegrated badly. On the other hand, they were fairly expensive.

[RBW] Thoughts on Devold boxer briefs?

2017-09-14 Thread Rory Woods
Hi all,

I couldn't find much in a search of this group. My experience with Icebreaker
(and maybe Smartwool) boxer briefs was terrible - the legs just ride up and
bunch, chafe, etc. My thighs are not voluptuous by any means.

One reviewer on Rivbike.com states that s/he had sworn off boxer briefs but
liked these.

Any one else have an impression to share?

Thanks,
Rory
