Yeah, the white's pretty flashy.  I think it pulls the bike together pretty 
well but I can definitely understand why it might not work for everyone...

Not easy to see but the bike had just been toured for two weeks and the 750 
miles in 4 days of rain and the tape was pretty gray:

Most of the dirt can be washed off using simple green so it isn't that hard to 
keep the white tape reasonably clean.  The biggest issue I had was after 
changing a tire and handling a dirty chain on the side of the road.  The grease 
on my hands left a stain that did not come completely out.  Rubber gloves or 
some had wipes in your bag would be a good idea.
