RE: [RBW] Color Question from an Indecisive Person
I had a clearcoat (Riv called it Raw Clear Powdercoat) over bare metal Bombadil http://www.flickr.com/photos/37542512@N04/4249456177/in/set-72157624552118742/ , which has now been repainted http://www.flickr.com/photos/37542512@N04/4815169169/in/set-72157624552118742/ , as it was showing some rust under the clear. But I would note two things: (i) my bike was being stored within 30 feet of a salt water back bay, and you can't get a much worse environment for a steel frame than that, regardless of whether it's painted, color powdered or clearcoated; and (ii) the rust didn't look bad, in fact it was pretty cool - I just got a little panicky, probably because it was my first foray into the higher priced steel frames, and I didn't want to take a risk. In retrospect, I wish I'd left it - it looked great. I really like the Hunqa green. I had my SimpleOne painted that color. It is still in the box as I am trying to get the rest of the parts together and find the time to build it. I peek inside every so often and it is just amazing. Can't go wrong with one of the stock colors- Riv chooses great colors! Copy Amit's grey with kidney bean headtube and panels. Ya know, that classic scheme used on the Hunqapillar. It looks really good with twin TT's.
