Joe -- I've been offered a pair of 7 speed thumbshifters for the best of

Patrick -  I've got a 7 speed under bar shifter set, but am reluctant to let 
the go.  I will do a ride by today however and check Community Bikes, that has 
3 tons of stuff.  Cantilever brakes I assume?  and an under bar or top mount 7 
speed rear shifter?

Think it is all low end Shimano and I think the the RD shifting may be
reverse. Will report shortly.

shifter. Are you sure they're one piece? If SRAM, do you know if it's
an "ESP" (i.e. long-pull) or Shimano-compatibile rear derailer? I
might have some Shimano 7-speed grip shifters around.
