Wow! I dig the idea of Purple; while on the SoCal VS. NorCal Rumble we
talked about paint colors and Evan and I agreed purple is a great color or
a deep cherry that looks almost black but when the sun hits it you see the
color.
Here are my black submissions:
This one is the bomb!

Oh dear! I'll need stealth green for camping near the river... but if I
get black, I can camp right in the middle of a black-top street! ;)
My Green SimpleOne is being outfitted in a bunch of new black components.
There's a possible solution for you:
Flat Green frame
Cream head tube
Black calipers (Paul or Tektro)
Black Crank (Sugino, Paul or White Ind.)
Black brake levers (Paul)
Black seatpost (Paul or Thomson or Soma)
Black Stem
Another vote for army green. There are a lot of black bikes in the Twin
Cities. (Especially Surly). Even I have one. Green stands out more from
the everyday bike.

Army green - and given your fondness for early BSA green, take a look at a
new-old variant now called alpha green

I don't know. I do some bike painting on the side and black always reminds
me of a job I could do myself. When I pay for a paintjob (or was given one)
I would go for something I couldn't readily do myself or find locally. It
would be amazing to see a flat army green paint job. I don't know if I
Hey my bombadil is orange pearl but if I had to pick between black and
green I would take green. I am doing a bike in XO1 purple soon, sweet 80s
color.

I've got a Surly Ogre in Shrek (i.e. Army) Green and a Long Haul Trucker
in black. Both colors are great. I like the green of the Ogre better, for
what it's worth. But that's not to say you would.

What Evan said (green + black). Of the two, the green sounds better,
although I love black w/ cream. Black w/ just a touch of metallic is
my absolute favorite. But yeah, I think green is better.
