I thought Grant had made several definitive statements that it would be a

Good to hear. Maybe, just maybe. The curve of the tubing from the
Diagibar to the seat stay is what makes it interesting. Looks like it has

Jeff, that looks like the bit but I can't be sure. It probably is though. Good
eye on your part.

I'm intrigued by this Appaloosa contraption. I especially like the way Keven
has his set up on the riv site.

http://www.rivbike.com/product-p/staff3.htm

I think this is great set up--with the big saddlebag weight resting forward of
the rear hub. Next, the front rack like he's got there (with bag or basket).
For extending touring, I wonder if a frame bag would work on that bike? That
would be one great mofo rig, IMO. It's all theoretical, of course.

It's a mystery alright--- what happened to the other ones?
Here's one:

I wonder if Riv made any small[er] non-diagatube versions. RCW's getting a
super special custom Nobilette-trick-stay/mixte-stay Appaloosa bike, but
that special request makes me think that either no small ones were made or
were lacking in diagatubes/stays.

Quiet and pleasant riding in the early morning darkness (Who loves dynamo

Wintherthur (family estate of a DuPont family member who at one time controlled

2013-09-17 Thread Tony DeFilippo
Gorgeous shot of the pre-dawn... looks like you weren't the only creature
out for an early morning jaunt.

9 Mystery bikes eh ok, I can't help myself.

*Three Rings for the Elven-kings under the sky,
Seven for the Dwarf-lords in their halls of stone,
Nine for Mortal Men doomed to die,
One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne,
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie,
One ring to rule them all, one ring to find them,
One ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.*
—*The Lord of the Rings*, Epigraph

Not to be morbid, we'll all go someday right it was just too easy.

Tony

OK, here's your Mystery Bike fix:

And here:

It's interesting - Mark Nobilette built 9 (I think) of these bikes, but I've
never seen pics of any of the others (except Keven's
http://www.flickr.com/photos/49513914@N04/8299057938/in/photolist-dDmQMQ ,
which I don't think was one of the nine).
