I've tried the Moustaches many times, to no avail, but they were most
comfortable, almost eliminating hand pain, when I had them low and
long, as with drops so that the hoods more or less mimicked the hoods
on drop bars. But then the problem was the lack of any more relaxed
and upright position comparable to the flats or the ramps on a drop
bar. But with hands on the brake levers positioned per Grant, I found
them aerodynamic and conducive to a powerful stroke -- the last
probably due to the inclination of the back.

I tried the M-bars on my Bombadil as my first set up. I liked them very much
for off-road riding, but on the road I couldn't find a position where my
hands wouldn't hurt. Knowing now that that frame was too big for me (and too
long), I may try them again on the Atlantis at some point.

When I asked around, I got a lot of feedback regarding people complaining
that they couldn't ride them for long without getting pain in their hands.

I guess it varies, but you may want to try them out first if you can.
