Re: [RBW] Stolen Bleriot.
Just a note on cranks for Bleriot (and not to rain on anyone's parade), I have a 51 frame and I switched out my 170s for 165s to eliminate some TCO. Since the 49 is smaller, I would guess that 165 is a bit more optimum. I realize that we're talking generously donated parts here. Re: [RBW] Stolen Bleriot.
I don't know Manny, other than his posts, but he must be a great guy based on the 5- 10 folks that have made parts offers. If it were a local guy that I knew someone who needed this type of help I , also, would offer to help. Maybe I'm wrong, but I get the impression that he can afford to buy a new/used replacement nor has he asked for assistance - other than helping to locate the stolen bike. This is certainly not in anyway a negative statement towards or about Manny. I hope I could be the same type of person that had friends that would offer to do this but, damn, there are organizations in every community that refurbish bikes for homeless and poor kids that actually need our spare parts. Re: [RBW] Stolen Bleriot.
Fair enough, Joe! Let's start by tracking down a 49 Bleriot. It was in the QBP catalog for a while. I'll bet there's one stashed somewhere. Hold off on the parts offers, but post back if you turn up a frame. If we find one, we can go from there. As an aside, I wouldn't expect the same treatment. By the number of posts in this thread, I think more than a few of us have the sense that this is a special case. Manny adds so much to the list through his pictures and stories, and he seems to embody the Riv philosophy so well. Manny, I guess you've become the accidental Riv poster boy! Bike theft feels like a personal attack, a violation. Makes it hard to park some places in the future. Inspires thoughts on what they used to do to horse thieves.
