[Bug 290413] add wireless interface autoconfig feature
https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=290413 --- Comment #5 from Sulev-Madis Silber --- unsure what's going on here? git diff, altho with extra context, was replaced by diff of a diff 2 times and defaults rc.conf part is now gone? i have the regular short context one too here, which i could also upload and full one i could put on phab myself, then add that url here. this helps? no? yes? i don't know -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

[Bug 290413] add wireless interface autoconfig feature
https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=290413 --- Comment #2 from Sulev-Madis Silber --- (In reply to Bjoern A. Zeeb from comment #1) yes it does allow multiple ifs. it creates multihomed wifi sta setup where hell knows where the routes go and dns config comes from. i'm not aware of priorities there main intent was sta, one sta with unknown driver, where whoever who configures that does that knowingly. alternative would be extra option to limit it to first one found this would also allow headless aps i guess but i haven't tested it yet i thought about it a while and ifconfig_DEFAULT is a great way to shoot yourself into foot i guess maybe there could be limits by interface types but at some point, you would need to manually verify your network setup so it does what you want without strange configs automa[gt]ically happening previously i had patch for previous wifi where interfaces appeared as "actual" ifs, but that's not in any supported fbsd now in any way, i can't figure it out by myself, hence i shared that even without docs why it is not being done yet, no idea, either noone wanted or it sits in private repo it does override all manual config with wlan_autoconfig="YES" but maybe that's ok i'll let others decide on improvements to this now -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

Zeeb --- Something like is long overdue I think and it seems it would even work with multiple wireless interfaces. I'll re-assign it to rc as it is really about the startup scripts and keep wireless on Cc.
