Re: [Rcom-l] Installing RExcel on a windows machine with Excel 2002(sp3)

2008-10-04 Thread Erich Neuwirth
I still do not understand exactly what happens
in your problem.
I do not get any output displayed either in Excel or in
R when I do something like this.
Please describe in detail what you are doing.

RE: [Rcom-l] Installing RExcel on a windows machine with Excel 2002(sp3)

2008-10-04 Thread D'Antuono, Mario
Sorry Erich.

I thought it was the latest version RandFriends v2072 3.0-3 that we were
installing? from your WIKI page?

I guess my question is why does RExcel need to set Rserver when it should be
part of the installation?

My colleague managed to go down the RExcel menu and set the Rserver. Hurrah!
Thanks for your very good RExcel help file.

As explained in my email she was using an IBM R50 laptop running Windows XP
2002 SP3 and Excel 2002 sp3.

All ok now. I am now aware of what to do if anything goes wrong. But not sure
why Rserver is not set?
Thank you.

Secondly, do you want me to send the second query to a separate email to the
RCOM newsgroup?
i have this data set and i selected the following lines in Excel sheet and I
said Run R in via REXCEL menu

eg1 = read.csv('eg1.csv',header=TRUE)
aov1= aov(yield~ factor(Treatment)+factor(Block),data=eg1)
anova(aov1)

eg1.csv has 12 records
plot Block Treatment yield
11 D 4.6
21 A 7.3
31 C 5.5
41 B 6.3
52 A 6.6
62 C 5.4
72 D 4.1
82 B 5.9
93 B 5.6
10 3 D 3.5
11 3 C 4.9
12 3 A 6

WHY DOES RExcel echo the data as well as each instruction? Can i switch this
off? i tried options(ECHO=FALSE) in R program but to no avail? Your advice
please?

Kind regards,
Mario.

Re: [Rcom-l] Installing RExcel on a windows machine with Excel 2002 (sp3)

2008-10-02 Thread Erich Neuwirth
This can have a few different reasons.
To be able do diagnose we need more details.
Which version of RAndFriends, which version of Windows,
which version of Excel?
Was RExcel installed from the same account (admin account)
as it then was started?

Your example code is not enough to understand what your problem ist.
It is 2 lines of R code.
How did you want to get the data to R?
How did you run the code?
