The BH package -- which provides a solid subset of Boost in a header-only package for use by R, with or even without Rcpp.
I had gotten a recent email pointing out that a noise compiler warning was indeed a bug in (upstream) Boost 1.51.0 which has been fixed. I have moved to 1.54.0 -- and this is actually the first time we upgraded the library. I tested against all 16 declared CRAN depends and found no issues.
