as you might know the libraries in Germany have started preparations for
the implementation of RDA. Thus we are doing a lot of textual work but
somehow (as non native speakers) feel uncomfortable with the English
language resp. the exact meaning of some terms in a special context. So

To record is a very general term and says no more than erfassen in

to mean give the information exactly as it appears, with the
posssible exceptions of capitalization and punctuation.
