Subject: [rdiff-backup-users] hardlink-only mode
afaik, rdiff-backup cannot handle unix domain sockets.
in most cases, it doesn´t give any sense to back them up, anyway. most
applications will (re-)create those files at runtime.
try the following commandline option:
--exclude-sockets
Exclude all socket files.

hi !
i think this definitely needs being fixed since it`s pretty good strategy to
write-protect any backup after some time - regardless on which media it`s
being stored.
just my 2 cents

on the backupserver, you may try something like
rdiff-backup -r 2006-05-06
/backup/backups/gauss/fileshares/Engineering/Stormwater
Department/Construction Projet Links.xls [EMAIL PROTECTED]::/tmp/tmprestore

exist and reference files, which don`t exist anymore.
don`t know if this can be really problematic, though.
deleting files from the backup has been requested as a feature several
times.

also add a "-v9" to your rdiff-backup command
- this will probably show what rdiff-backup is doing before failing
