Hi Mac-- We've installed four Magnum 4048-Fronius AC coupled systems, ranging from the older Fronius IG through the later Fronius IG Plus with arc fault. One system had three Magnums, another two Magnums and two were single Magnums. We had a small glitch on the two Magnum system on one occasion

James, This product is probably much like Rain-X. While you could put it on PV modules, it would require reapplication on a fairly regular basis to keep it working. As you pointed out, I don’t think many, if any, module manufacturers that would specifically warranty their product with Rain-X

Wrenches, I have a customer with one SW 230 poly V2.0 frame (top mount) module that has shattered glass. It is on a DPW TPM10 pole mount. She noticed it the other day and does not think that it was hit by anything. I agree that is unlikely based on the site conditions. Other than by a

Hi David, We have thousands of PV modules installed mostly on RV's. An RV roof can be a very abusive environment with turbulence, flying debris, driving under limbs, heavy vibrations and more. I have not had any glass breakage that could not be accounted for, i.e, breaking for unknown reason.

About 5 years ago we had a SunPower module shatter for no apparent reason a couple of weeks after we completed the installation. No one knows the exact cause, but SunPower did end up RMAing the module and sent an engineer out to check out our array (which was flush mount rooftop). We noticed that

Dave Sometimes tempered glass will have a defect that will cause spontaneous breakage from a relatively small stress in exactly the right spot. We have seen that happen during module manufacturing, so usally it never makes it out the door. What does the shatter pattern look like. If it is from

Hi David, I've seen this a lot of times, and it was always caused by the diode failing, which caused the diode to get very hot and would result in the glass shattering. This was often obvious because the area around the diode would become black and the module j-box would sometimes begin to melt.

Dave, I have worked with many DPW pole-top racks, as it is our rack of choice for battery-based (mostly off grid) and water pumping applications. While I have seen errors in construction, they have not tended to cause warpage of the modules. Also, the

The bottom corner modules are the likeliest to be damaged by somebody or something moving past the array. I'd check for any damage on the edge of the frame. I had kids run a vehicle into a pole mounted array once. No one would cop to it, but I found the matching damage on the roll cage of the
