Funny, happened to us, too, some years
back... six sets of 2V cell pairs in a 24V bank, with one case
showing 0.05 volts DC, the difference in resting voltage between
the two cells. We opened up the cover (the case was red, as I
recall, Mick), disconnected the int
I had one whole pallet of "famous brand" that were charged backwards.
The positive post (as charged) WAS painted red, but the plastic case "+" and "-" markings were by the wrong posts.
Before I realized the error, I installed 8 of these at a customer, going by the red painted post, not noticing
Anything more than a few millivolts.

Mick.we had this happen once too.Luckily it had already become
standard procedure for us to check and notate voltage of each battery prior
to connecting battery cableswe had installed 11 of the 12 batteries and
the 12th battery turned out to have reversed polarity..While we didn't

You should see a voltage drop across the connections if they are faulty.

Mick,
Thanks for sharing. Outstanding troubleshooting (particularly when done
remotely).

Thanks. I suppose that something like this be invisible to an Amp hr

We had a similar problem with a large bank of IBE 2 volt cells. The
batteries had to be removed the same day they were installed and then
reinstalled the next day. They sat outside for one night. The flags
acquired an invisible but insidious corrosion that caused problems getting
