Hi Allan and Kris,
Is it possible the pump was programmed to pump when the batteries were pretty
full, or at least not low? IE don’t pump at night.
If so then on a 72v System which is 3 X 24v, say a low start voltage of around
78v. It would be 26v on 24v system.

so I'll give it a wild-ass go. Although I've never used or even seen a
72V controller, I'll suspect from your description that it was made by
Dan Pringle of Solar Converters, now long gone.
