[RE-wrenches] Tesla 2.0

2017-03-11 Thread jay
HI All, I hesitate to bring this up, but I’ve had some questions come my way about the “new” Tesla 2.0 battery backup units. And with the demise of Aquion, looks like Lithium and LA are pretty much the only games in town. I have been able to find quite little on line ( surprise), pretty much

Don't ignore Sonnen, their ECO16 is a solid Lithium based solution. We installed one in Anguilla and, once we got through some software issues, the system performed solidly. On Fri, Mar 10, 2017 at 9:43 PM, jay wrote: > HI All, > > I hesitate to bring this up, but I’ve had

Am I missing something? We all know of a couple notable L-ion related issues such as the Samsung cell batteries and there were 3-4 Boeing 767 batteries that flamed out but these are relatively isolated incidents compared to the hundreds of millions of L-ion batteries of that same chemistry

Simpliphi is another Li+ that is very much worth looking at too. It comes in nominal voltages that are usable (unlike Tesla) such as 12 v, 24v, and 48 v. It is also rated to 10,000 cycles to 80% DOD, which actually could outlast the rest of the system. It is Lithium Iron phosphate which is

I agree on checking into Sonnen, as they are using regular Outback Radians and the high<>low voltage conversion electronics are built into the unit. The main complaints I have heard so far is that it's a really crowded compartment in which you have to do your wiring. You might also look into the

Tesla just announced that they were only going to be making the AC battery, which is what you are talking about here. No DC only battery. They are making their own inverter from what I understand. There is also a rumor that NFPA is going to limit Lithium batteries to 2 kW in or on a

2017-03-11 Thread Ray
Greetings Wrenches; I have recently decommissioned a 2007(?) Alpha Solaris 3500 XP grid tied battery backup system. The batteries were cooked and the whole unit was off line. The customer was no longer interested in the recurring costs of backup, so we elected to rewire the array for higher

I have the same questions as Jay, I would really like to see the real specs for the Tesla 2.0. Other questions I have: -How will the Tesla 2.0 be installed in coordination with a PV system - I can only assume any PV system would have to be AC coupled with the Tesla? -Does the Tesla inverter
