Here is one method for dealing with rigid insulation over decking

The roofer installed “cant strips.”

Re: [RE-wrenches] Pitch Pockets

2021-11-03 Thread Jason Szumlanski
Good point about the tapered insulation, August. However, sometimes you can
use a larger base with a decking-only attachment without crushing the
insulation. The IronRidge Flat Roof Attachment (FRA) is a large diameter
base with a LOT of fastener holes. They also do angled fasteners and you
can get really good uplift capability with a decking-only attachment.

We are not dealing with many flat roofs in snow country [thank goodness] but
are very impressed with the Chemlink product hot or cold it appears to be very
stable. Just spendy.

Re: [RE-wrenches] Pitch Pockets

2021-11-03 Thread Jason Szumlanski
We have had mixed results with this. I like the product. Some roof
manufacturers and roofing contractors have resisted despite Anchor's
ability to use the exact same manufacturer's patches. Again, Firestone has
been one of them, insisting on their own accessories. It does provide a
very low profile option and they have a variety of base plates. They aren't
cheap either, but can be lower price than a separate mount and
portable sealer pocket. You can also order them with at least two sizes of
threaded stud if you intend to use a post with internal threads.

E-Curbs here.

Some roofing manufacturers require that you use their sealant pockets and
sealant to maintain their warranty, and some require that you use their
certified roofing contractors. Firestone is one of them for TPO roofs, and
their TPO accessories are very expensive (even more than Chemlink).

[RE-wrenches] Pitch Pockets

2021-11-03 Thread AE Solar
Anyone have a favorite pitch pocket they use for flat roofs? We have a
larger residential system with an EPDM flat roof (decking, 2" of rigid
insulation, then EPDM). We are trying to keep the array as low to the roof
as possible. We've used Chemlink E-Curbs to seal around stand-off's in the
past, but figured I'd reach out and see if there are any other
products folks like?
Thanks.
