Re: [RE-wrenches] factory module damage, has anyone seen this?

2020-11-10 Thread jay
Hi Benn

I never got the specs that they said it was within. But the distributor
assures me its true.

The modules are not up yet, and they won’t really be visible, but yea they
should be flat and on plane. It will bug me that there is a bow to them. But
its a done deal now.

Jay,
If they say it is “within tolerance”, do they have “specs” to show that?
And if it is, and they do then is it causing you grief (making adjoining

If they say it is within spec, and can show you paperwork showing that it is,
then you got what you ordered.
Perhaps it is “pre-flexed” for loading. Those are pretty tall/long mods.

Re: [RE-wrenches] factory module damage, has anyone seen this?

2020-11-06 Thread Jay
Hi all

I hear what folks are saying about what my distributor should do and I’m
caught. Because the OEM says it’s not a warranty issue and it’s not shipping
damage.

The distributor is caught in the middle.

Distributor cut me what I think is a good deal.

I can send them back on my dime and get another pallet.
That’s $1400+ for shipping and my time. Drive to town pay the forklift guy wait
all day to meet the truck on both delivery and pickup.

Which is another $.11 watt. Vs the $.13 discount that my distributor is giving
me. Taken together is a $.24 per watt savings.

So I take it the other way. The distributor is really helping me out. And I’ll
be sure to give the distributor more biz.

But I won’t buy CS again and you can be sure I’ll bad mouth them for years. It
would have be nothing for them to cut me a deal. It shouldn’t have been the
distributor who did.

I haven’t stated the distributor specifically because there are many of you
that feel they have done me wrong.
I disagree and I don’t want them trashed.

I think I'm going to have to side with Jason.  Many times my distributor
has eaten crow for stuff like this and of course there has been times
months after a delivery where I've found damage that I've had to eat.
Its the cost of doing business but if these were a fairly recent
delivery, the distributor should help.

So I’m out of options from them. Quite disappointed and I won’t
buy them again.

My distributor was great and with their discount I feel a bit better.

But any kind of return wasn’t on the table.

Re: [RE-wrenches] factory module damage, has anyone seen this?

2020-11-04 Thread Jay
Hi Bill

The whole pallet of 35. All are bent.
They are on the pallet sideways, not vertically stacked.
No damage to the cardboard box, or any packaging. All Oem packaging, full
pallet.
No damage to the modules, not a scratch.
Equal bend to the top and bottom of the modules
No damage to the pallet
No gaps between modules, sides or top.

I’m not sure if the pictures came through.

I have talked with a friend who’s worked on a few hundred megawatts of install,
he’s never seen this.

So far Canadian solar has said nothing but that they are within spec ie it’s
not a warranty issue.

I’d say that it looks like I’m not going to get anything from them. No
replacement, no discount. Fair warning to all about buying from them.

I have never seen pre-flexed modules.

I would expect your supplier to replace & collect them freight prepaid or not

Hi Dana.

I did think of that ( all kidding aside)but given the response from CS, I don’t
think it’s normal.

Weird to even think how you’d assemble it. Is the glass prebent or the frame or
both?

I did hear from someone offsite they’d seen it on REC.

bent from the factory.

There is no pallet damage, and the bend is the same top and bottom.

My question is has anyone seen this before? I this normal?

CS says its within spec which seems BS to me.

What should I ask for from CS?

What about return shipping cost, would this be something that I’d have to pay
or CS?

So far they have offered $.10 per watt.

What would you all do?

thanks in advance

Re: [RE-wrenches] factory module damage, has anyone seen this?

2020-11-04 Thread Jay
Hi Dana.

I did think of that ( all kidding aside)but given the response from CS, I don’t
think it’s normal.

Weird to even think how you’d assemble it. Is the glass prebent or the frame or
both?

I did hear from someone offsite they’d seen it on REC.

Jay
