Re: [RE-wrenches] Outback MX60 Replacement

2025-04-22 Thread Mac Lewis via RE-wrenches
Hi Jason,

One thing you might consider is an Outback FM100 with the 300Vdc input.
You can do 2 strings of 4, then combine on the roof. Typically you can
easily get that on #10 wire. This may allow the controller to show up with
the Mate. I would disable arc fault to make it work reliably.

If you can't find them, let me know off-list and I may be able to help.

Good luck!

There are particular challenges with running new conductors to the roof,
and I don't have 8 wires to work with, unfortunately. This is one of the
reasons I am planning a single string at 600V

For the PV input, I should be able to get whatever breaker is

I'm all ears if there is an easier way to go

The customer sent me this crude image. I can see

anyone know if there is an Outback breaker of this physical
size and 125A rating to plug into this DC FlexWare enclosure?
For the PV input, I should be able to get whatever breaker is

I'm all ears if there is an easier way to go
about this with approximately 3,600W of new PV.

Thanks in advance!

I was definitely leaning this direction, actually. The homeowner really has
it in his mind that it should be simple to just replace the panels. It's
tough to crack that shell. He's 80 plus.

He even wanted me to install new panels on old 2-inch angle aluminum that
is holding up the existing 190 watt panels. I nixed that idea right away.

I don't have another recommendation for a 600v charge controller but I can
tell you Midnite does make a standard, single space panelmount 125a
breaker. Also keep in mind the PV input breaker would have to be 600v
rated, also readily available from Midnite..
