I think linux machine can act as a router but i am unable to find any
documentation. Please if anybody can tell me where to get help on this
topic.

I think you can not connect to your ISP through minicom as this needs some kind
of authentication protocol ; PAP, CHAP so minicom is not a kind of automated
feature.This is my opinion depending upon my experience.

It's very simple.Go to the network-scripts prompt and then you will have
two options.
1) ./ifup-ppp ifcfg-ppp0
2) ifup ifcfg-ppp0
This works for me very fine.

Why don't you go through the x-windows.They have a very easy sort of arrangement
for the dialout.This will at least solve your ppp configuration problems.
