what's the matter if the result of command line above is unknown ?
Is it indicating an insatllation problem or other (configuration)?

The current operation of uname is highly unhelpful. The purpose of uname is to
indicate the type and version of the system being used on a computer.
At the moment the Redhat 4.2 and 5.0 (for example) systems both give identical
output despite the fact that binaries are not interchangeable
