If you don't use BSD flock() nor O_EXCL in a dotlocking scheme, there shouldn't be any
problem with NFS linux server and BSD client.

FreeBSD 4.8 as NFS client doesn't do any locking at all.
O_EXCL doesn't work across NFS anyways,
