KDE 4.8.5 tarballs available
Hi, I have packaged up the current KDE/4.8 branches as KDE 4.8.5 tarballs and uploaded it to the usual location, which hopefully resolves all the regressions in 4.8.4. I am a bit late, as I was busy and then sickleaving last week, so the release is delayed until we get positive feedback from interested packagers that the release looks good. Hi, they are split into subtarballs now, following git module split. I only preserve tarball splitting over minor releases (aka if there are further git splits with 4.8.1 or 2, then I will reassmble the tarballs to make it seamless). It has been that way from the start in the 4.8 series. I'm sorry, I can not maintain two sets of tarballs, it is just too much time that I don't have. Do you suggest to include it as a seperate tarball, but not include the kde-runtime ksecretservicesd ? The suggestion was around including it in regular kdelibs and kde-runtime, which is why I stopped thinking about it further.. KDE/4.8 branch created
Hi, As a preparation of KDE 4.8 RC1 I've created a KDE/4.8 branch for all released modules except for kdelibs, where I'm waiting for feedback if creating a 4.8 branch makes sense for just one patch (see other mail today). Please remember that from now on, any change that should be part of KDE 4.8.0 must be pushed to the KDE/4.8 branch. (for those modules that are in SVN, a /branches/KDE/4.8/* tree has been created). The only exception that exists (as usual) is kde-l10n ,which is still taken from /trunk/l10n-kde4 until 4.8.0 release. so nothing changes for translators so far. There are two possibilities: a) create a kdelibs KDE/4.8 branch for this purpose. (plus the patch to make kdelibs 4.7 actually look like KDE 4.8, which I currently apply to the tarballs only (in kde-common/release/make-kdelibs-4.8.diff) b) add a tarball of artwork that I need to unpack in kdelibs prior to creating the actual release tarball to kde-common/release/* as well) For me, it would make most sense to create a KDE 4.8 branch in kdelibs, but I would like to have more input before I create the branch. KDE 4.7.2 (try#1) uploaded
Hi, I just finished uploading KDE 4.7.2 tarballs. Unlike previous tarballs, these have been consistently taken from KDE/4.7 branch in git. Let me know of any issues (my own build is still running). kde-l10n is still being generated and will be uploaded in ~ 3 hours. The server yes, but not all the hundreds of checkouts all over the place. the tags in git will only be pushed when the tarballs are released. KDE 4.7.1 tarballs (try #1)
Hi, just finished uploading the first set of 4.7.1 tarballs. I have not yet been able to fully build them myself yet, given that my scripts failed early over night.. Anyway, I hope it works out. I have rebuilt kdeaccessibility and kdeutils from the modular git trees into the previous monolithic tarballs so that the tarball layout does not change between 4.7.x releases. If you know about any issues (unexptected changes in the tarball layout, or build issues, blocking bugs), please let me know. I'll try to respond on Sunday, currently travelling with limited internet. Greetings, Dirk ___ release-team mailing list release-team@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/release-team

I set SB_PACKAGE_VERSION_NUMBER to v4.7.0, but it still checked out git master, which is completely wrong. how do I tell it to check out a specific tag instead? also, why are the subdirectory names completely different (capitalized instead of lower case like the fine grained tarballs)? why is there a Source/ subdir where the main subdir does not have a CMakeLists.txt, so that the usual "cmake ; make; make install" workflow does not work? is there a way to tell it to not run make install after every module? for packagers, the step of "make" and "make install" must be completely seperate. In this state I don't see that I can create monolithic tarballs from that method, I would prefer to run the old setup-kde*.sh scripts (from /trunk/KDE/kde-common/release). Anything I'm doing wrong here? I might have not grasped every part of the README. Any help appreciated. KDE 4.7.0 tarballs (try#1) uploaded
Hi, I just finished uploading the first set of KDE 4.7.0 tarballs. Those are the split tarballs that I mentioned before, I have not succeeded yet in creating merged tarballs again. kde-l10n is still being generated, I'll upload it shortly. Please drop an email about show stopper issues to release-team@kde.org, and any compilation issues or other messups with the tarballs to kde- packa...@kde.org, and I'll respond. Thanks! I'm still learning the git basics it seems (never try to use git --mirror and clone -s if you don't know exactly how it works :-( ). I guess I should buy a bigger harddisk than trying to fit everything on one. So I uploaded a new set of tarballs. its all fresh, and it seems to build now. (Ive renamed the old dir to 4.6.90-broken, new one is 4.6.90). Thanks, Dirk ___ release-team mailing list release-team@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/release-team
