Folks here are going to want to
for what you are describing, it would be more worth your while to invest in
a cross banding mobile rig. that way you won't have to worry about getting a
controller, and duplexer's, etc. however, there is a fine line between cross
banding and a repeater. as long as you use it for short time use,
i should have also added that this is assuming you are a ham and are using ham frequency's.
if you are wanting it for commercial use, than you will have to do a similar setupwith commercial equipment.

Anything from a small low powered repeater in a box to a
cross banded dual/multi band radio works pretty well.
Small low powered repeaters can be made from small
radios (even portables) up to commercial vehicle systems
like the Pyramid Radio Equipment. I'm sure there will be
lots of answers
Another Important Thing and I found out the Hard way that on some duel band
radios in the cross band mode if the Mic is still attached the Audio is Hot
without the Mic being keyed, and What You say if in range of it goes out
over the air too, I was on the phone once talking about a guy who was

Now you know why
the newer radios don't do that anymore.
my alinco does not do that, however i have a friend with an older alinco
that does keep the mic hot.
i don't belive the yaesu's keep the mic hot either.

It appears as if the crossband repeat audio is internally connected to

If you really mean a mobile repeater (a repeater that connects to a
mobile radio), you can use just about any portable radio to do that. All
you need is COS, PTT, and audio (TX and RX) from your mobile and the
portable. I would recommend a Motorola PAC-PL since it is made for the
purpose and can
Hi all,
I wonder if anyone has experience with this duplexer. It is specified
to tune up to 50 MHz, but my repeater is on 52.230RX /53.930TX.
THE question: will this duplexer tune up that high?
Thanks, Steve, kb7rgt

What band?
For VHF, it would be very difficult, even if only on one channel due to
duplexer size.
For UHF, the duplexer is doable, however, it would have to be retuned when
you change frequencies, so, not practical.

I was just thinking about using my old DR-570 for a cross band repeater
project. (it's the one with the repeat switch on the top). At www.mods.dk
there is a mod for expander rf and cross band repeater mod that says:
6. Remove the two pin connector to disable audio bleed in repeater mode.
it sounds like the type of thing I want is not really possible, cause I
want the repeater to be in my truck and multi channel, but it dont
sound like that is reasonable, thanks for all the suggestions

Give this company a try. http://www.pyramidcomm.com/svr214.html
You can interface their mobile repeaters with about any radio.

Midland LMR Syntech II series radios offer this in a cross band configuration.
It is the 70-2959-X (X=1 for VHF and 2 for UHF) option.
In their Low Band, you could have either VHF or UHF repeater unit, which is
actually an 8 channel 1 - 2 watt handheld radio and a controller. In VHF
