Not that familar with the Echolink end, but if the computer port puts out 5
volts when it wants to transmit to the repeater via the remote base, yes you
can use as remote base COS. This COS has about 5 k input impedance and should
not load down the 5 V line.

Yes we have had one in use for the better part of 10 years in the
147.XXX portion of the ham band. It works just fine, the users really
like the audio and never had any serious issues with it
Can't advise on a source for used ones...

The remote base transmit (4125 code) must be on. The extra tail beep will go
to higher pitch. The remote base TX audio is muted by this signal as well
operates the RB ptt.
