Consider also that a dummy load accepts all manner of frequencies without complaint, being non-resonant by design, while a tuned circuit (like an antenna or duplexer cavity) will complain about harmonic content and spurious output. Perhaps the transmitter wasn't producing clean output. 73, Ken
