Dear Group,
Somewhere I saw or heard of a inline coaxial impedance matcher. It looks like
a barrel connector but it actually has an adjustment on it for adjusting or
trimming SWR between devices. It is placed inline with the coax ,between a
driver and amp or between duplexer cavites etc, and a
Instead of MOVs, how about a gas discharge tube [GDT]. OR Possibly in parallel
with the MOV. They are small and metal and the specs say they can take quite a
few discharges and not break down..
Anyone use those?

Is putting a MOV from hot to ground, neutral to ground, on the primary of the
transformer of the power supply a good idea..
I have a ICE surge suppressor on in front as well but thought I would put more

I had a question on shielding.
The controller I have has a gap on the back of the enclosure where the DB-9 is.
Since I have been told everything has to be double shielded on a repeater, so
should I put some copper tape across the back to cover the gap into the

I have a 800mhz maxtrac converted to 900mhz with the COR going out to pin 8.
The controller would like to see a High when Active. The Maxtrac is by
defaulted to low. In the menu it can be changed to high , but when I do its
says Custom in the right hand corner.

I have another question on code selection. Other than 411 being a code used for
open repeater, what is the criteria for picking a DPL code.
Also it looks like PL being preferred to DPL is not RFI specific as I have seen
on frequency lists

I have had a couple of really nice hams try to explain this to me but I am not
getting it. Which is better. Most importantly which is better in a metropolitan
city with lots of RFI and noise on the bands. Particularly 900mhz. I have seen
mostly PL and just a few DPL listings
