Is the cut only in the outer jacket, or into the shield, too? If only
the jacket, I'd simply waterproof the area, using a quality method.
Describe the damage a little more for us.

darn close to the original undamaged cable. You should/would not
normally notice the splice in many typical rf applications below
800 MHz (and probably even much higher frequencies).
Pretty much anything is better than LMR-400 wh
First of all thanks for the information on the connectors. I will have a
look there. Secondly my apologies for the large email. I receive the list
