[Repeater-Builder] Install a Cat WX-200 to a Cat 400
Hello, I am tring to hook up a Cat wx-200 to a Cat 400 and after reading the manuals on the both of them, I am realy lost. I have worked with the 300DXL and the 250 and it was a simple job. I hope to put this in a system that has the repeater, 2 link radios and the wx-200 but the wx- 200 needs user switches and I can not find them on the Cat 400. If anyone has any helpful hints please let me know.
[Repeater-Builder] Midland WR-100 S.A.M.E. radio
To add to my post of yesterday regarding this weather radio, per my personal observation of the unit sitting on my desk. Yesterday some heavy weather passed through our area, prompting several warnings. The warning LED comes on and stays on for the duration of the actual warning. The audio from the speaker stays on for about 5 minutes, assuming that you have it set up for the voice message option. However, there is an internal point where you can pick up continuous audio. This is per a post by someone else here on this list a couple weeks back. So, you can utilize the LED as your source of alarm to a controller. But, you'll want a fail safe timer to shut things down at whatever interval of your choosing. Remember, the warning LED could stay on for quite a while. I wondered what happens to the LED in the event of a second warning when one was already active. The answer is that the LED pulses off and on a few times, then turns on for the duration of the warning. So, this means that a second alert would be possible. I do not know if earlier version of this radio operate the same as mine dos. I purchased my radio a couple of months ago and yesterday was the first opportunity to see it in action. And for those wondering, there are separate LED's for watches and advisories. If you wanted an external device activation, you'd need to take that into consideration. The tests all come over as advisories. Finally, I'm not saying it's legal to connect this to your repeater or not. I'm simply passing along some technical info. You do what you want. Chuck WB2EDV
[Repeater-Builder] Tait T800 Series - Programming?
I noted a few messages regarding programming of the T800 series repeaters (Type I) and was curious to know what programmer people are using for the purpose... I'm getting ready to order a service manual or two, and bring a couple of T800's on-line, so your guidance would be helpful.
[Repeater-Builder] Flexar Repeater
I just picked up a complete Flexar Repeater. It is set up fo DC remote, but would like to add a speaker only. There are several screw connections on the bottom of TX unit or is there a inside connection. If anybody has any information I would appreciate it. Sam KE5MID WQGI744
[Repeater-Builder] Re: MTR2000 VHF Motorola Repeater
Eric, Argus would NOT help us with their battery revert/charger device. Forget ANY support. I went with much the same setup that you did in the past. That was 2002, and no problems since. Eric Lemmon [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: I suppose it would be a good idea to use the recommended Argus Battery Reverting Charger, to avoid violating the warranty terms. However, I wonder just how complicated the Argus unit is, since the only connection to the radio is through the red/black socket. I have one of the Argus units on order right now, and I will examine it carefully to see how it works.

The Tait software can produce either a .bin or .hex file. The only caveat is the factory software only supports 12.5/25 KHz channel steps. If you are located in southern California, then you will need to do some hex editing to support 20KHz channels. Ed Yoho WA6RQD
[Repeater-Builder] 5 minute timers on SAME WX Alert Radios----

Both of these radios do not have 5 minute timers, but react to the NWS tones to turn ON and OFF before and after the warnings. I also have 2 Radio Shack Same units 12-249 and 12-258 that have timers in them that go for the full 5 minutes and then mute. (Not very good during a net) During severe weather, I think that a WX radio hooked to a repeater with automatic on off would be the best choice. Has anyone played with either of these Radio Shack 12-250 and 12-261 WX Radios? This seems to be the way to go. As per the legal question.. I'm no legal eagle, but if I'm going to read the thing anyway, why not rebroadcast it 1st? With the appropriate safe guards, you can CYA yourself! Please don't flame me to bad... You obviously haven't checked the radio shack web page at repeater-builder.com - there are two articles there. Mike WA6ILQ
