Hello to the
I wish I had read this before I ordered the TS-64MASTRII
yesterday. So in my mobile I may not be able to get
encode/decode at all with this? I thought that was the
reason to buy this over the stock GE modules because the
GE modules couldn't do encode/decode at the same time.
So is it

Vern,
The TS64 will do encode and decode at the same time and the unit for the MII
from Comm Spec can do this. Wheather as comes not sure.
I think the MII CG unit did only encode OR decode looking at the PTT signal and
switched.
So I think the decode and encoding of the TS-64MASTRII will do
The pictures show a TS64 mounted on a board for the TS-64MASTRII, but the

The tone board in the TS64MASTRII shown in the link looks more like a TS32
mounted on a board to plug into the MII.
The TS64DS is smaller and all connections are made thru a connector and a
supplied cable that plugs in. The board shown has the various points for
connections as was on the
Yeah, I was low on connectors so I used a CAT-6 complient RJ-45, which
has the wires stagered elevation wise to keep crosstalk down.

I think this is just sloppy word choice, rather than a lack of

want to multiply it. Subtraction is not a part of the equation.

1 - Be sure it is working properly BEFORE you change anything.
2 - Program the new send and receive frequencies and adjust the VCO's if
necessary.
3 - Align the receiver front end.

You are correct. It was a poor choice of words on my part. I
understand the theory of velocity factor. I am still not sure about
the lengths involved with the harness. If the 50 ohm sections from
the loops to the tee can be any length, (as long as they are the
same) doesn't that affect
Your logic is right, but your assumption that the feedpoint Z
of each bay is
200 ohms is wrong. A folded dipole in free space is close to
200 ohms when
fed at the open center of one side, but the dipoles in the DB
array are
close-spaced to the mast which drops the feed Z to close to
The DB-212 is a 50-ohm antenna with a 50-ohm feedline. You are combining two
50-ohm antennas at the tee which makes it 25-ohms. A section of 35-ohm cable
brings it back to 50-ohms.

OK John, just making sure. I'm not familiar with the configuration of
the antenna, but what you are saying makes sense. I'm confused by the
idea that the length doesn't matter, because that would imply that
everything is 50 Ohms throughout, which doesn't seem to be the case.
