Eric,
I too have seen that but for some reason these do not have it. I'm, not
certain,
but I think these systems were assembled piecemeal and not ordered as a
system.
If that is the case the thermal switch was omitted.
Anyway your solution is very simple and inexpensive.

Nice little device for terrorists to trigger IEDs too. I bet if you ordered
100 of them, you'd get a visit from guys wearing dark shades and talking
into their cuff.

In reality they'd show up in the interests of job security

I agree, this is NOT a reliable or secure way to control a repeater. If you
set the phone to auto answer and hang a simple touchtone decoder on the RX
audio, THEN it would be a decent controller.
What you have there is a simple but effective BOMB DETONATOR...(
yes..they DO use them for
I was thinking the same thing, Skipp! That's how you know you're having a
bad day.
Hey Abdul... past me the duct tape.

Nope, you can use a 2 call sequence to avoid this according to the docs.

Does anyone have a preamplifier suitable for the 220MHz amateur band they care
to part with? My 220 project is nearing completion, and this is one of the
final parts I am in need of.
Please drop me an e-mail. Thank you!

Actually most IED's are triggered by what is known as the two tone method, as

I have Celwave units, brand new.. high quality, and cheap. $50.00 post paid.
We use one on our repeater, resultant sensitivity is .15uv.

The problem is wind noise on the 147.240 duplexed repeater antenna.
Tower has a ladder with a wire rope safety cable running top to
bottom with a guide midway.
After using the IFR to generate a noisy signal, a soft mallet was
used to strike the antenna, tower legs, and finally the ladder.
Hi could any one roughly explain how a talkthrough unit works. thanks antony
