Neil, you will drive all over the west coast for ham radio gatherings. I've

Great post, I was there and learned a lot, mostly next year I need a covered

and things like

You can use an S or SX for the transmitter, but the receiver definitely needs
to be
the S. The helicals in the S make the difference. I think the S has about 2-3
MHz
of bandwidth on receive, while the SX has close to 20 MHz.
I have also used GE Phoenix S UHF radios for a repeater as well.
has anyone installed a ts-64 into a micor base/repeater station?
is so does anyone have the layout of where to make all the connections?
if not is there a better way to get tone decode and encode on a micor
without having to buy a tone encode and decode and the two reeds for them?

Sure it's easy to do, you can get Disc. Audio to run the decode right off
the backplane and transmit can be input thru the backplane also to the PL
input of the exciter. You should have both manuals for the station so you
can find all the points. You need the RF manual and the Control manual.
thanks Greg it off to find another manual

Dayton was Dayton.
Fine on Friday, Wet on Saturday, and Deals to be found on Sunday.
Three of us drove from Colorado Springs. It's a 20 hour drive (we do it in 2

It was great
It works for me- It's a little stiff, but if it's available, use it.

hi all,

I believe the question was actually: Is RG-142 also good to use in VHF
duplexing systems?
rather than is it too good?
I don't see a reason not to use RG142 at VHF range.

RG-142 is excellent, but it's stiff because it has a silver-over-steel
core.
Read the web page at
http://www.repeater-builder.com/rbtip/double-shielded-coax.html
and you will find out why I switched from RG-142 to RG-400.

It will work.
I most of the time use Belden RG-214/U coax to interconect the
cans to the repeater. A bit less loss and very eazy to work with at VHF and
UHF.
Good luck on your new repeater system.
Very best,
