I have seen where elements are sent out for re-crystalling (different freq) and come back with a stick-on label showing the new freq. Maybe the labels came off, revealing a freq that is no longer in the element? (I've actually had this happen to me before.) Mark - N9WYS -Original

Xtal cases seem to be intact, was told they xtals were still in there. Even so, I get no power output, and it does not even register a frequency on my freq counter. So no output, and no input. There is one extra plug at the control head, and a purple wire with a connector on it. Mathew -

Me too, sometimes I need to open the case and read what is printed on the crystal case itself. Other times, I look at the produced signal from that Channel Element on the spectrum analyzer and calculate what frequency it is on. Neil - WA6KLA N9WYS wrote: I have seen where

I don't think it is a xtal issue, I think like someone said, I am missing a ground or something, something that makes the final connection between the radio and the control head. But I'm not sure where to look. Mathew - Original Message - From: Neil McKie [EMAIL PROTECTED] To:

You may want to determine if the Channel Element frequency select wire (one of the pins on the bottom) is properly grounded. Look at the bottom of the circuit board immediately below the Channel Element and locate the one connection that goes to the edge connector P-902 on the

Ok, I think I'm getting the picture, it the P-902 the power connector in the fron of the radio. On one of them there is a wire that comes from the board by the transmit xtals that goes to the front of the radio, and is connected to ground. Mathew - Original Message - From: Neil McKie

Rather than trace everything out, just pop the shell on the control cable. Trace pin 1 and pin 4 up to the head. Pin 1 is ground and is hooked to the shield of one or more of the coax conductors in the control cable and ends up on pin 21 of the head. Pin 4 is frequency 1 and ends up on pin 11

Nope, nope, nope ... Exciter: frequency 1 select wire from the Channel Element on the circuit board goes to P-902, pin 15. Receiver: frequency 1 select wire from the Channel Element on the circuit board goes to P-904, pin 2. Those specific pin numbers must be grounded

RG-400 isstranded center conductor. If you have a solid center conductor, it may be RG-142 that youhave. RG-400 and RG-142 will give about 75 dB isolation from leakage. Foil braid shielded coax will give about 90dB. Hardline (solid copper tube) will give about 110dB of isolation. So, hardline

it sounds like you do not have all the assy's for the radio. you would need a control group book and a connector tool to rearrange the cables. The best bet is to get the rig over to someone close to you that has a working test setup to check the rig. Or get a non scanning 4 channel cable and head
