Hi all,
I have recently invested in a UHF GR900 repeater and I am looking for
any information on this unit. I would specifically like any re-
programming info, ie leads, software to use etc etc. but any info would
be greatfuly appreciated. Please feel free to email me off group if

Joe,
The easiest way to find it is go to Yahoo, click on Groups, click in the
Search field and type in Hamvention. It is the first one on the list.
Steve B. sent a link yesterday that would take you directly to it, did you
get it?
If not try this link;
I see the link line wrapped so you will need to copy and paste it two
sections starting at the http all the way to the space but do not include
the comma.

I recall a problem with a UHF repeater with terrible desense that I had some 30
years ago. The original installer didn't have an N connector for the pigtail
and used an N to BNC female adapter and stuck one wire of the RG8 in the center
hole and soldered the braid to the outside. Needless to

Well, Paul, I still don't have my tickets yet, either. although I paid for
them a month ago.
Been hearing more and more horror stories about how the Hamvention is being
run.
Also - what will be your repeater split? I don't think I understood your

It is programmable using the dtmf pad on the mic. I am using it on a

Chris,
The GR900 was manufactured for the UK and European markets. It appears to
be similar to the RKR1225 repeater sold in the US, but I have never seen one
close up to identify its contents.
Perhaps your best course of action is to contact Motorola-UK for assistance.

A couple of ways. 1. Using a NE555 as a timer, circuits are everywhere. 2.
I use a 2N7000 fet and pull in a low current relay on the PTT line. Use a
regulated low voltage to a RC timeconstant you want to the gate. When the
voltage gets at the turn on point (around 2.2V) it will pull in
A 555 would be a solution.
Off the shelf 3 minute delay timers for air conditioners are common. 3 minutes
might be a bit long. Don't know if have shorter ones.
They simply delay an air conditioner coming on for 3 minutes if power is lost
primarily to permit the unit to come on when

I thought about the AC Time delay timer but it requires AC 24 volts, it
probably would work off of the ac side of the low voltage transformer but
would still require a relay. I have some of the octal time delay relays I
may use on of them.
The other thing I ran across was a carrier control timer
There are several choices available at WW Grainger, some in the $20

Tom,
Probably the simplest circuit would be to find an old Amperite time
delay N.O. relay and put it in series with the PTT line. Also, any
industrial electrician could find you a plug-in time-delay relay. Check
Grainger or Mouser for time delay relays.

Tom,
The 555 will run on 15 volts or higher. It will also run on 5 volts. If the
circuit you found has other 5 V only parts simple to get. 7805 regulator.
Whatever you do it would be good if the unit is normally off during normal
operation...if relay used have it in de-engerized state.
I have the programming instructions for a Zetron ZML mike. If you think
it is the same, I'll be happy to email it to you.
